It's hard to believe that school will soon begin! Beginning August 26th at 3:15pm GECRC will kick-off our after-school program and are looking forward to a great year together full of engaged, active and consistent learning that will build on the educational practices exercised this summer.
As we begin our after-school programming we look forward to also increasing our communication with each of you, our valuable volunteers! In an effort to do so, everyday as the students will be having their afternoon snack and engaging in read-alouds, I look forward to meeting with each of you as a group for up to 15 mins. to discuss the afternoon ahead, what the plans are for the day, answer any questions you may have and build on the teamwork that is already beginning to grow! This is all with the hopes that together we will be able to give the students the consistency needed for them to succeed!
In addition, as you prepare for this school year and plan your time with the students I encourage you to look at your calendar to plan for what days and times best work for you to work with the students at GECRC. As many of us know, volunteer relationships are the primary reason that many of the students come to GECRC each and every day. When volunteer attendance in consistent, we find that the students find more success in their school work and through reading and writing workshops! Your presence is the key to the student's success and desire to keep learning! Please consider joining us this year and continue making a difference in the lives of the students we serve.
We truly look forward to an amazing school year full of celebrations as well as stories of success and laughter.
