Our mission is to help children from low-income families acquire the necessary skills in academics and social interaction to move successfully through grades K-12 and into adulthood. We do this by providing after school and summer programs which emphasize literacy and community involvement and use the talents of teachers, volunteer tutors, adult caregivers and a variety of local support services.

By Request -

Initially, I was not planning to post this Thanksgiving week. Yet, I have made a big mistake and need to reconcile it.

Last night as the GECRC students, staff and volunteers were planning for our big Thanksgiving Feast to happen this coming Wednesday (November 25th) the students began to ask what volunteers would be coming to join us. It was at this time that it occurred to me that I had not intentionally extended an invitation for you to join our celebration. I simply had to look each of the students in the eyes and share that I had not invited any volunteers to feast with us. By the looks on their faces, I had committed a serious crime. It is by the request of the students at the Glen Ellyn Children's Resource Center
You, our wonderful volunteers, are invited to our Thanksgiving Feast
Wednesday, November 25th at 5:00pm
Abraham Lincoln School library

GECRC students will be making cornbread, stuffing, turkey, corn,
mashed potatoes and green beans.

Each of you are welcome to join us as we demonstrate and share gratitude with each other.
You are also welcome to bring a dish to share
but by no means have to as we know this is extremely late notice.
We would just love to have you join us!
